Act Nexus is a global Applied AI company that creates value by applying Artificial Intelligence to real-world challenges — taking complex problems from diagnosis all the way through to production, with measurable impact.

We do this through Forward Deployed Engineers (FDEs), who work side by side with our clients, building solutions while developing the capabilities of their teams on the ground.

We are looking for a Director of Technology to be the senior technical leadership reference for an embedded team.

We are not looking for just a manager. We are looking for a builder and technical leader — someone with the vision of a CTO, the depth of an engineer, and the ability to turn ambiguous problems into systems that work.

The role

As Tech Lead, you will:

Lead the evolution of the client’s technical maturity through AI-agent-based approaches and strong technical leadership principles.

Define the team’s technical standards — from architecture and specifications to harnesses, agents, and evals.

Build end-to-end solutions, from discovery through to production.

Act as the technical counterpart to senior client leadership, driving decisions around architecture, risk, and value creation.

Develop the team on the ground — because leaving the client stronger is part of the delivery.

Turn learnings from the field into reusable patterns, tools, and practices across the organisation.

In an embedded context, working alongside the client’s teams, you will operate as an FDE M4 and/or Product Engineer. Outside of the embedded context, you will also take on the role of Head of Technology, leading strategic technology challenges across Act Nexus.

We are looking for someone who:

Is deeply technical and still genuinely enjoys building.

Has experience designing complex systems and taking them all the way into production.

Moves naturally between code, architecture, product, and strategy.

Is comfortable working directly with clients and senior leadership.

Thrives in ambiguous environments and knows how to discover what should be built before deciding how to build it.

Has the ability to develop the people around them and turn knowledge into reusable practices and standards.

We are not looking for someone to manage technology from a distance. We are looking for someone who wants to be on the ground, solving difficult problems and building side by side with an exceptional team — someone who leaves both Act Nexus and its clients stronger than they found them.
