Senior Data Engineer / Data Architect (AWS)

Location: Hybrid, Porto

About the position:

We are seeking an accomplished Senior Data Engineer / Data Architect to take ownership of designing and implementing cloud-based data platforms on AWS. You will lead large-scale data projects, drive best practices for architecture, and ensure efficient handling of complex datasets.

What you will do:

- Design and deploy scalable data solutions on AWS, ensuring reliability, performance, and security

- Lead large data migration and optimization initiatives, coordinating with cross-functional teams

- Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code templates (e.g., Terraform) for automated deployment

- Write and maintain high-quality code in Python and SQL for data workflows and prototypes

- Manage and optimize Iceberg tables and other large-scale datasets

- Implement and monitor ETL pipelines and orchestration tools like Apache Airflow or AWS Step Functions

- Establish and enforce data governance, security, and engineering standards

- Build and improve CI/CD pipelines for automated data deployments

- Collaborate with internal teams using both AWS and Azure technologies

What we are looking for:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience

10+ years of experience with AWS data services, plus some exposure to Azure

Proven ability to manage large-scale data projects

Strong knowledge of cloud architecture and best practices

Expertise in Python, SQL, and Iceberg table management

Hands-on experience with ETL processes, Kafka, and orchestration tools

Fluent in Portuguese and English (C1 or higher)

Additional skills that will make you stand out:

Experience with streaming technologies such as Apache Flink or Kafka

Relevant cloud certifications (AWS, Azure, or equivalent)

Familiarity with data science and analytics platforms like Dataiku
