Role Overview

As a Java Backend Engineer, you will join the team responsible for our e-commerce payment platform. Our platform enables merchants to process online payments and offer their customers a wide range of payment methods. You will help develop, improve, and operate the systems behind these payment flows, from integrations with payment providers to our payment page and server-to-server APIs. This is a hands-on development role where you will work on both new functionality and the continuous improvement of an established, business-critical platform.

What You Will Do

Integrate new payment methods into our payment platform

Develop and integrate clients that communicate with payment providers and other third parties

Design and implement new platform features

Develop, enhance, and maintain our hosted payment page

Develop and maintain public and internal APIs

Write unit and integration tests

Contribute to the design and architecture of new software components

Improve our internal framework by refactoring, simplifying, and generalising the codebase

Review code and exchange feedback with other developers

Deploy new versions of our products

Take part in the team’s compensated second-level on-call rotation outside regular working hours

Who You Are

A bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science or a related field

At least three years of professional experience with Java

Experience developing applications with a modern framework such as Spring

Experience with Git, Maven, and relational databases

The ability to design reusable, robust, and maintainable software components

A strong awareness of software quality and engineering best practices

Experience writing unit and integration tests

Good problem-solving skills and a willingness to take ownership

An interest in payment systems, integrations, and business-critical backend applications

Experience with Linux, CI/CD pipelines, containers, Kubernetes, or cloud platforms is an advantage, but not a requirement.
