Senior SQL Server Database Administrator

We are currently looking for a

Senior SQL Server Database Administrator

with strong experience in production database operations and Azure cloud services, capable of working autonomously across the full DBA lifecycle, from performance optimisation and production support to incident resolution and release management.

Required Competencies:

5–10 years of hands‑on experience

with Microsoft SQL Server in production environments

University degree in

Computer Science, Engineering or a comparable technical field

Strong experience with

Microsoft SQL Server installation and configuration

Strong experience with

Always‑On Availability Groups

Experience with

Failover Cluster Instances (FCI)

Strong experience with

T‑SQL scripting and optimisation

Experience with

query tuning and execution plan analysis

Strong hands‑on experience with

Azure cloud services

Experience with:

Azure SQL

Azure DevOps

Azure Pipelines

Azure Alerts

Azure Event Hub

Azure Monitor

Strong experience with

PowerShell automation

Experience with

storage account management

Proven experience in

incident management, production support and performance tuning

Ability to independently diagnose and resolve complex SQL Server incidents and perform structured

Root Cause Analysis (RCA)

Experience executing and validating production releases using

Azure DevOps and UrbanCode Deploy (UCD)

Experience with database security, permissions management and audit‑quality documentation

Experience collaborating with application teams, infrastructure partners and release management teams

Knowledge of

PostgreSQL

Experience with

Jira and DBeaver

English – C1 (spoken and written)

Valid work permit or

EU/Schengen nationality

allowing legal employment in Portugal

Preferred Competencies:

Azure Database Administrator certification

Microsoft SQL Server certifications

Experience working across multiple database technologies

Experience in

regulated environments , such as financial services

French and/or Dutch

language skills

Ability to operate autonomously in complex production environments

Strong analytical and structured troubleshooting skills

Salary Range: €1.900–€2.100 gross/month

Note: Includes all components: Fixed, Variable, Meal Allowance, Remote Work, and Benefits.
