Information Technology Infrastructure Operations Manager

Job Description

Note:

This role is based around the Sines area and is open to candidates relocating to the location of the job from across Portugal.

We are currently partnered with a major global logistics and terminal operations player to source an experienced

IT Manager

for a strategic, high-impact leadership role based in

Sines, Portugal.

Aim

In this role, you will lead the local IT infrastructure, applications, automation, and 24/7 operations teams, serving as a critical bridge between local operations and global enterprise standards.

Job Role Responsibilities

Team & Operations Leadership:

Manage the SysAdmin (infra/apps) and 24/7 IT Operations teams, leading internal and outsourced technical resources to guarantee zero business disruption.

Infrastructure & System Strategy:

Deploy and manage the Master Plan for applications, databases, integrations, automation, and associated infrastructure, steering cloud migration initiatives.

Crisis & Incident Management:

Act as the primary crisis manager, collaborating with local, regional, and global teams to maintain high-availability systems.

Budget & Vendor Management:

Take full accountability for OPEX/CAPEX budget planning, procurement (SOW creation), vendor management, and contract negotiations.

Security & Governance:

Ensure robust alignment with cybersecurity protocols, handle risk management, and support internal/external audits.

Key Requirements

Technical Stack:

Strong hands-on background or architectural familiarity with VMWare, Docker Containers, middleware (WSO2, ActiveMQ, Kafka, Tomcat), Linux Enterprise, Microsoft environments, HPE servers/SAN, and Veeam backup systems.

Database & Integrations:

Experience with DB2, SQL Server, Qlik Replicate, and SAP HR integrations.

Methodologies & Frameworks:

Proven experience applying PMI, Scrum, and ITIL frameworks (ServiceNow) within enterprise environments.

Leadership Skills:

Demonstrated success leading technical teams, managing multi-layered stakeholder relationships (local/global), and fostering individual talent development.

Education & Language:

Degree in Computer Science or equivalent technical background, alongside fluent English communication skills.
